Twenty-five Broward communities around Fort Lauderdale

The communities differ more than the map suggests. Beach and Intracoastal condo towers in Hallandale Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Pompano Beach are managed by associations, which decide when a building is treated as one. Garden-apartment complexes in Lauderhill, Lauderdale Lakes and Tamarac are often a cockroach and rodent problem across many units at once. Planned HOA subdivisions in Plantation, Miramar and Coral Springs have lakes and canals that raise mosquito calls.

Larger lots in Davie, Southwest Ranches and Cooper City, with mature trees and fruit, bring roof rats and arboreal ants. Broward County Mosquito Control has treated parts of Dania Beach, Davie, Hollywood and Pembroke Pines with larvicide in recent notices, and it takes requests through 311 and offers free property inspections. Those services sit beside ours; a technician says which one fits the job.
